Summary

Thomas Søndergård conducts the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, choruses and mezzo-soprano Beth Taylor in Mahler’s Third Symphony at the Usher Hall, with BSL interpretation by Paul Whittaker.

Why it's fantastic

Mahler wrote this symphony to capture the entire world, packing nearly a hundred minutes with everything from birdsong to the tolling of heavy bells. It is a monumental physical experience, using a massive orchestra and two different choirs to trace a journey from primordial darkness toward a final, glowing hymn.
