Summary
Tabita Berglund conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus at the Barbican, featuring pianist Francesco Piemontesi in Brahms’s First Concerto followed by selections from Grieg’s Peer Gynt.
Why it's fantastic
Brahms began this concerto as a symphony, and you can hear that scale in the stormy opening movement and the keyboard’s powerhouse entries. The second half shifts towards storytelling, bringing together the most famous highlights from Grieg’s folkloric stage music, including the creeping tension of the Mountain King’s hall.

- 03Edvard Grieg - Peer Gynt(Selections)
