Why it's fantastic
The centrepiece here is a haunting reimagining of Bach’s famous solo Chaconne, interwoven with the vocal melodies he may have had in his mind while writing it. It creates a starkly moving sequence that pairs eighteenth-century logic with the still, atmospheric world of Arvo Pärt and contemporary Irish composition.
